At Brake-Out, you build a future with spunk, in which you take control of your own life. You fit in and take on a meaningful role for others. This page explains what the 3-year programme looks like. And how to register for a Brake-Out group in Ghent, Leuven, Bruges or Antwerp.
At Brake-Out, we will find the answers to these questions together. You will get to know new places and people together with other young adults with a need for support such as a mental disability, ASD or ABI. You will actively build your future and become more resilient. Brake-Out is something you do together with other young adults, coaches, your family and supporters. You do not have to do this alone.
You will arrive at the regular course location between 9 am and 10 am. Then there is some time to catch up, have a drink or chill out. The day programme runs from 10 am to 4 pm. The content depends on the theme your group is working on at the moment. You will share your interests with the others and we will respond to that.
We head out once every week to gain a learning experience. We will visit a museum or try out a new sport. We will get to know the hobbies of the fellow students, work at a company for a day, follow some creative workshops… The sky is the limit! We usually depart fromt the regular course location in the morning. We try to use public transport as much as possibile.
Brake-Out works in different modules on your talents. Making decisions, developing you dream, learning, practising and taking on a role yourself. Life themes such as housing, relationships and leisure are also addressed. Everything we do is linked to these 4 learning modules:
The coaches and trainers will adapt the programme to the interests and talents of the group as well as possibile. As the project progresses, the guidance will become more individual. Then, the students will take on active roles in learning workplaces that match their interests and talents.
