Konekt, Brake-Out and Platform-K have won a great deal of (international) awards and acknowledgements in recent years. It is very gratifying when we manage to inspire juries and the public with our vision on talent, inclusion and social enterprise.

« Hotspots for Talent » 1-year ESF Flanders ambassador (2020)

What if students, teachers, principals, parents, local businesses and organisations come together to experiment with the school of the future? 3 schools in Burges and Wetteren are rising to the challenge in the project « Hotspots for Talent ». ESF Flanders is investing in the project and has selected it as official ambassador of 2020 – 2021.

1 of 10 Radical Innovators (2017)

In 2017, the Social Innovation Factory, Radio 1, The Standard, Cera and King Baudouin Foundation started looking for cool initiatives that would offer solutions to social challenges. A jury selected ten Radical Innovators out of no less than 322 participants. Our training for « Co-workers in a company » was one of them.

A nomination for the « Samenlevingsprijs » from the city of Ghent (2017)

Every two years, the city of Ghent honours people and organisations with the « Samenlevingsprijs » for selflessly dedicating themselves to the city community. Together with two other organisations, Konekt was nominated in the category « Social Profit ».

M-award and international recognition for « Onbeperkt Mediawijs » (2017)

In 2017, the « Vlaamse Kenniscentrum Mediawijsheid » (the Flemish knowledge centre for media education) celebrated their fifth anniversary. Our programme ‘Media Coach, for duo’s with and without disabilities’ won the award for « Mediawijs Educational Project » during the celebration. A week later, Konekt colleague Tom Van Hoey went to the All Digital Awards in Barcelona, where he was nominated as best e-facilitator.

Finalist Zero Project Conference Vienna (2016 and 2017)

The international Zero Project advocates for a world without barriers for people with disabilities. Our vocational training for young adults with disabilities was elected as one of the 80 best innovative practices on Inclusive Work in 2017. In 2016, we received an award in the category Inclusive Education.

Prize awarded by the public at Ashoka Social Impact Program (2016)

Ashoka Belgium and Accenture brought together nine social entrepreneurs – including Konekt. We all received intense coaching to establish our strategic approach and impact indicators. During the closing ceremony, our training for « Co-supervisor in a company » won the prize awarded by the public.

The grand prize « Other Care Organisation » at ZorgAwards (2021)

During the event « Healthcare employer of the year » , Brake-Out received the award for « Other Care Organisation » . We were one of the 10 finalists, elected from 113 entries. The jury members are or were professionally active in healthcare sector.

Finalist of the Queen Mathilde prize for « My Festival: from artist to porter » (2019)

Brake-Out students Jochen and Caline were allowed an audience with Queen Mathilde. Brake-Out had been selected for the Koningin Mathilde Prijs, for « My Festival: from artist to porter ». In this project, our students took on a meaningful role at festivals.

Finalist Social Innovation Tournament of EIB Institute (2019)

The Social Innovation Tournament of the European Investment Bank supports the best European social innovators. Brake-Out was one of the 15 finalists of this prestigious tournament and had been selected from over 200 entries in the whole of Europe. We defended our honour during the final in Dublin.

Bronze at « Zorgvinding van het Jaar » (2018)

41 healthcare and business members of In4care proposed an idea, a solution or a project to effectively improve healthcare. From all entries, a jury selected 10 initiatives that received a sum between 2,500 and 10,000 euros. Our talent program Brake-Out came in third.

Finalist European Fedora prize (2021)

FEDORA is a European non-profit organisation that encourages innovation and creativity in the world of opera and dance. Every year, an international competition is organised to support European artists. Platform-K was 1 of the 3 finalists.

Winner of the Culture Award of the city of Ghent (2018)

In 2018, the theme of the Culture Award of the city of Ghent was « Talent Development ». Platform-K focusses on the talent development of dancers with disabilities, filling up a blind spot in the Flemish theatre scene in the process.

Dance performance Common Ground selected for « TheaterFestival » (2018)

Every year, the « TheaterFestival » puts a spotlight on the finest the theatre scene has to offer. In 2018 again, a jury of theatre experts and critics selected a series of interesting performances, which were shown once more during the TheaterFestival. Among them, our Common Ground performance excelled.

Winner Social Grow Sessions (2017)

The Social Grow Sessions are an initiative of Johnson & Johnson Benelux, developed together with the Social Innovation Factory and Social Enterprise NL. This initiative helps social entrepreneurs to invent, develop or scale up their social innovation. Platform-K was awarded a cash prize of 10,000 euros.

Award at Lucky Trimmer Festival in Berlin (2017)

Lucky Trimmer is a non-profit organisation that promotes contemporary dance, dance theatre and artistic performances. At the Lucky Trimmer Festival in Berlin, Platform-K received 500 euros for the dance performance Monkey Mind, which we were able to spend on the development of its successor Common Ground.
